Camping Day

The girls had "camping day" at school on Friday. They were asked to wear camping style clothes so they wore purple plaid shirts, jean leggings and boots, which was the closest thing they own to camping. At school they had tents set up outside so they could play in them and they made s'mores. I think camping day turned out to be a fun time for all.

I snapped this picture Friday morning.....Sarah insisted that she hold her leg up like this because she said she was "striking a pose"

Ice Cream Drama

The girls had a dentist appointment today at 3:00 and of course I was running a little late. It's so hard to get out of the hospital and I was a good 5 minutes behind. I pulled up to the girls school only a few minutes before 3 and when I got to their class they were all gone. Ms. Morgan was there and she said they were all in the little gym getting ice cream sundaes. I immediately knew this was going to be an ugly situation but I thought I was going to walk in with them in the middle of their sundaes and wanting to stay and finish them. Instead I walk in and they are second in line....Kristen was literally ordering her flavors as I walk up behind her. I told her that she couldn't get one because we had to go to the dentist and she burst into tears. Sarah then burst into tears and they wouldn't calm down enough for me to even try to convince them they would get ice cream later.

I had to carry them both out of the school crying for ice cream. Talk about awful timing.....it was the worst. They were heartbroken over skipping ice cream and they didn't see it coming. I really felt bad but I knew that if I didn't get them out of there right away our dentist wouldn't see us if we were any later.

So.....they arrived at the dentist still crying but finally settled down when they realized the dentist is where they get the gold coins for the machine of toys. I also told them I would make up the ice cream fiasco. After gymnastics we stopped at Sonic for sundaes and all became right with the world again. They only wanted about 5 bites and that sundae went into the freezer but they loved it and were happy. We brushed teeth really well afterwards because they had an excellent dentist visit and we want to keep it that way.

Hoppin' House

The school was closed for MLK/Teacher Inservice so we spent the day playing. We started off at Target and then we headed to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. Afterwards we were going to go to the Circus but they decided they wanted to go to the Hoppin' House that just opened instead. They hopped and hopped and hopped until they were completely worn out. We still had to go to HEB afterwards and they barely made it through before their eyes started getting droopy. Now they are fast asleep upstairs and mommy has a little time alone.

I love days like today with my little ladies!

Texas A&M

Well.....I'm officially an Aggie. It's so strange to type since I'm such a University of Texas fan but that's really due to football and that will never change. For an education, UT has never really been of interest to me because it doesn't offer what I want. I have two degrees and neither are from UT.  They just don't branch out enough outside of the traditional degree programs, so I got both of my degrees from Texas State.

Although I already have a masters degree, I have enrolled at Texas A&M for a second one. This particular degree program is either a masters or PhD. I'm technically enrolled in the masters but I'm giving serious consideration to switching to the PhD program in 2013. The course work is the same until the thesis so every class I take can be credited to either degree.

My first class starts on the 17th and I'm very excited. It's official because I've paid my tuition so now I have to follow through on it. :-) I will get 100% reimbursed for my tuition if I make an A and 90% reimbursed if I make a B but I'm shooting for all A's. My plan is to take one class at a time and I'm going to do them online at night after the girls go to sleep. I don't want to take away from any time we have together so if I cannot manage the course work after they go to bed then I could be a Texas A&M drop out after this semester. I really hope it's manageable.....I'm going to sacrifice TV and a little sleep.

This first course is Strategic Planning....I'm just waiting for the 17th to roll around because I'm eager to get started.

I picked up these shirts when I went to College Station for orientation. I thought Joe was going to die seeing them in A&M clothes. I think they look pretty good in maroon. Burnt orange, maroon, green, or any other college color will look perfect on these beautiful girls.

First Photos of 2012

These are the first pictures/videos I took in the new year. This particular day the girls put on lots of accessories, brought down their music box and came downstairs to do a dance routine for me (video below).  I love the creativeness of this age!

Later that day they were supposed to be taking a nap....instead they were laying together just talking. These girls just make my heart happy.

Our new year has started off beautifully....we have lots to be thankful for and lots to look forward to.
