Trick or Treat

This year Kristen was a Bumble Bee and Sarah was a Ladybug. They were the cutest little things ever. The girls and Daddy carved their pumpkin this afternoon and then Nana came over to get ready for trick or treating. I'm not sure how many trick or treaters we had since we just left candy on the front porch but we saw lots of kids in the neighborhood. They must have been very frugal picking up candy from our house because we have lots leftover. We went to several houses and a few of them were really all decked out with decorations. They had lots of fun.

Lake Austin Spa

On Friday I was lucky enough to spend the day at the Lake Austin Spa. You should seriously check it out if you've never been. I've been several times and it's absolutely amazing. Google them and check it out if you're interested.....they were even voted last year as the #1 Destination Spa in North America.

I snapped a few pictures with my phone but there is way more to this place that I didn't get a picture of. I decided to go because I need a personal break and something to bring down my stress level. This was the first place I thought of. I have a very demanding career and it's not easy being a full-time working mother to twins. I'm not whining.....I wouldn't trade any part of my life but every now and then you just need a little break.

I wanted to take some pictures so next time I feel tense....maybe I can come back to these pictures and try to remember how wonderful it was. Hopefully just thinking about it will help.

My favorite thing about this place isn't even the treatments. I did get 2.....an amazing facial and a Head to Toe treatment. It's not really full body but rather your scalp, neck, shoulders, legs and feet. Those are all of my favorite spots, which is why I picked it. Talk about a little slice of heaven. Back to my favorite thing....it's the facility. I absolutely love just lounging in the hammocks on Lake Austin. That is my favorite part without a doubt.

Here's the hot tub in the women's locker room. You will not be seeing any pictures of me (besides my feet) because I had already had the Head to Toe treatment by this point and my hair was oily and very teased from being massaged. There is also a sauna in this room.

This is the walk out to the lake. The first half of the walk is beautiful....plants and flowers everywhere. This part just takes you down by the water.

This was MY hammock. The place was practically empty since it was a week day and not a sole was down by the water. Not sure why but I was loving it.

This is the blue room. This is where you go when you are waiting for your treatment to start.

The porch on the blue room.

The day was wonderful for me. I did leave early around 2:30 to go to the girls Halloween party at school. It was the perfect get-a-way and so needed. I literally told Joe that if I didn't go that I thought I was going to crack. He ensured that I got there.

Pumpkin Patch

Today we took the girls to the pumpkin patch we go to every year. We sure had lots of fun.

Have I said lately that I'm so lucky to be their mother? All I can say is two years old is an incredible age. The learning at this age is just amazing with how much they advance on a daily basis. They love to count everything. They will count items in a book, they will count cars they see outside of the window while we're driving, they will count absolutely everything. They also love to sing. Their favorites are the ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Old McDonald are the ones they like to do over and over. They identify every object they see. Today they walked into the bathroom and announced....There's the trash can, Mommy. Here's the sink. This is the potty.

After the pumpkin patch we went to The Salt Lick for dinner. Sarah said...Mommy, can I have a paper towel, please? It cracks me up when they say things so grown up. They are just an absolute joy.

Anyway, here are the pictures from today....this first one is with the pumpkin we will be carving this week.

Sweet Berry Farm

We drove out to Marble Falls today to take the girls to Sweet Berry Farm. In the Spring you can go and pick strawberries and blackberries but it's a pumpkin patch in the Fall. It was our first time to go and it was fantastic. The girls absolutely loved it so we'll definitely be making this an annual tradition. There were lots of things for the kids to do and we didn't even do them all before we left. They have pumpkins of all sizes you can buy, a maze through the corn field, hayrides, face painting, pumpkin painting, petting zoo, pony rides and my personal favorite was picking the fresh flowers.

Notice Kristen organizing everything....none of the small ones were on the ground when we walked up but Kristen and Sarah immediately got to work putting them all in a line.

The didn't want off of the tractor. Maybe this means that they will have lots of interest in mowing the yard one day.

Me and my beautiful Kristen.

They make strawberry popsicles from the spring berries and they were delicious. They both finished every last bite but I snuck in a little bite when they weren't looking to taste it.

For $1 they will give you a cup and some scissors to borrow and you can pick as many flowers as you can fit in your cup. This was lots of fun for us and they just happened to me my favorite flower!

Sick Mommy and 2 Energetic Girls

I didn't get home until midnight Friday night from Nashville and I wasn't feeling very well. Saturday just got worse as the day went on. I had a horrible sore throat and body aches but luckily no fever. The girls were pretty good to me on Saturday since all I could do was lay around, particularly because they didn't get a nap and seemed like they had enough energy to last a week.

The conference in Nashville was great. The topic was Workplace Safety and it was very interesting. I clearly work for the greatest hospital system in the nation because they are the pioneers of just about every improvement initiative you can imagine and lead the way for all others to then follow. I feel quite fortunate to have the job that I do.
Here are our two little Longhorn fans.

One of the administrators I met in Nashville ended up giving me his tickets to the UT game on Saturday. I had every intention of going but I just couldn't do it and I'm so glad I didn't since I probably would have gotten worse. Joe and Dan went and it sounds like they had a nice time. Here's the view from where they sat.
