New Friends & New Words

Today Kristen said Nana for the first time to my Mom during breakfast. My Mom has been waiting patiently for it to happen....one down and one to go.
This evening we also took the girls outside so they could practice walking. Kristen did so well. She walked down the sidewalk, across the street and up the neighbors driveway. She was so happy to do it and didn't want to come in. Sarah is getting better everyday as well. She will be running before we know it.
Also, we met some new neighbors and they have a 16 month old daughter named Sydney. The reason we haven't met them before is because their house got struck by lightening during a thunderstorm in the middle of the night, which happened to occur on the very first night we stayed in our new house. Apparently they only had minor damage but they still couldn't live in their house for 3 months. They just moved back in last Friday. There is another 16 month old girl, Emily, that on our street as well. It appears the girls will have several playmates on the street right around their age. Yeah!

I'll share pictures of the girls from this past weekend.

This one is of Kristen dancing at my Mom's house.

We can't keep up with her here.....

Our Girls

The girls are growing up so fast and it seems every day they can do something new. They are incredibly fun and my heart just wants to burst because I love them so much.

Big news ~ last night Sarah took her first steps. This is huge for her! Sarah has never been as strong physically as Kristen and it's taken her longer to bear weight on her legs, to crawl and now walk. She's tried really hard but she just didn't have the physical strength. Last night she took 2 or 3 steps and it was amazing to watch her. This is the little girl who was only 4 lbs 10 oz the day we brought her home from the hospital......wow, has she grown up. I was just so proud of her. For the last several weeks she's been walking behind her toy pushing it around the room and when she would get to one side of the room she would just look back and smile. The smile told the story.....look at what I can do! She wasn't able to let go but you could tell she was certainly ready to. She gave me that same smile last night when she finally did it! She was so excited and I was too.

Eagles

You may remember that I got Joe tickets to see the Eagles in concert for his birthday gift. It's been several weeks since the concert but we went with Danyelle and Terry. The show was fantastic! I'm so glad that I went (even if it was a Monday night in San Antonio and it took me 2 days to recover from the missed sleep).

Cameras were banned but I took mine in anyway. We were too far away to get any good pictures but I thought I would post a few anyway.

Kadey's Luau

A couple of weeks ago the girls went to Kadey's 3rd birthday party, which was a luau themed pool party. Kadey had a lei and a grass skirt for each little girl at the party. It was a super cute theme and a perfect age to do it. Most of the other kids there were around 2 or 3 and it was so much fun watching the little girls playing in the pool and interacting with each other.

The older the girls get the more fun we have. They are so active and into everything. Kristen is practically running now and Sarah is walking so well behind her push toys. She's very close to letting go and walking on her own. It's amazing to think how far they've come since they were 5 weeks premature. They have done such a fantastic job catching up and I'm just so proud of them.

We didn't have our camera at the party but we took a picture of them wearing their leis when we got home.

Port Aransas Vacation

My Mom treated us to a weekend at Port Royal in Port Aransas over Labor Day weekend. Both of my brothers were also there so we had two condos for the weekend. The resort wasn't packed like it could have been and I'm assuming some people cancelled due to Hurricane Gustav. Luckily, the weather was perfect all weekend for us. The girls loved the pool and enjoyed going to the beach. We didn't spend too much time at the beach but long enough to let them play in the water for a bit. We also celebrated my Mom's birthday while we were there. My brother even got a birthday cake and chocolate covered strawberries. We had a very nice long weekend!

Brooke's Party

I'm late posting this but 2 weeks ago we went to Houston for a celebration for my niece, Brooke. It was originally planned as a baby shower but it had to be pushed back and instead was a celebration for her. The weekend started out on Saturday morning when we headed to The Woodlands to pick up Jacob. The party was Sunday and hosted by my Aunt Shirley & Uncle Miles, who happen to live fairly close to Jacob. Joe and I stayed at the Woodlands Resort & Conference Center and spent the day with Jacob in The Woodlands.

I'm attaching pictures of our time with Jacob and pictures from Brooke's party. We were able to see all of my family there and had a terrific time.

Casey, Trish & Brooke

There were a lot of people not in this picture that I wish I could have got a picture of....my Aunt JoAnne, Uncle Butch, Aunt Shirley, Uncle Miles, Uncle Henry, Bobbi as well as many cousins. I'm usually really good about taking a lot of pictures but Joe and I were both preoccupied with the girls.
