A Great Weekend

We've had a really nice weekend and I think we're all sad to see it come to an end. Nana came into town Friday evening and we got to spend some time with her over dinner.

On Saturday we spent the day with Dan, Alissa & Ainsley. We went to Zilker Park to play and feed the ducks. Then we had awesome burgers at Sandy's and a milkshake to go (for Mommy). It was great to catch up with Dan and Alissa since we've haven't seen them lately and to let the girls see Ainlsey. It's funny because none of them were really playing together but as soon as we left all they could talk about was where Ainsley went. I guess when you're two you just want to know that your friends are close by even if you aren't doing things together. We also got to talk about another upcoming trip we want to plan to Port Aransas. That will be lots of fun to get together again.

Saturday evening Joe and I went to do some things by ourselves. It was very exciting stuff....Costco, Barnes & Noble and Hobby Lobby. We've been looking for another chandelier for Sarah's room that they have at Hobby Lobby but we've been waiting for the lamps to go on 50% off. It finally did so now Sarah will get one to. Kristen already has hers up that we got several months back and it's so cute. It's a chandelier with 5 pink lamp shades on it.

Joe and I also went to the Alamo Drafthouse to watch The Lovely Bones. The movie stressed me out so I wouldn't recommend it. The book is apparently much better but I haven't read it yet.

Today we went to church and then the girls played with Nana before she had to head back. They were surprised to see Nana after church because she met us there and they didn't know it. After Nana left, I took a nap while the girls took a nap and it was pretty fabulous.

That's pretty much it but it was such a fun time. For some reason I didn't take a single picture this weekend but I did get the girls singing the ABC's tonight before bed. We hadn't brushed their hair yet that got a little wet in the bath so excuse the bad hair....we do usually keep it looking nice. They each wanted to be videoed signing and then they wanted to sing together. They did better individually but I just love the duo and I wanted to post it.

Little Girls, Big Dreams

The teachers at school challenged all of the parents to write down the dreams we have for our children in recognition of MLK Jr. day.

Kristen & Sarah,

I have had hopes and dreams for you long before you were ever even born. The most important thing is that you grow up in church, love Jesus and live your life centered around him. That is my ultimate desire. I hope that you always follow your heart, stay firm in what you believe in, love deeply, cherish your family and friends, and live your life without any regrets. I hope you always make decisions that you can be proud of because you only get one life to live and there aren't any do overs. I hope you know that you don't have the option of not going to college....give it four years and after that you can do whatever you like (I'm the mommy and I get to make some dreams happen for you). I hope you always remember that it doesn't matter what kind of career you have or how much money you make. What matters is that you do something you love. I hope that you always look out for the people that aren't as fortunate as you.....give back, volunteer, lend a hand. I hope that you know you can do anything you set your mind to no matter how difficult it may be. I hope you know that it's better to speak your mind than not speak up at all. I hope that you have a forgiving heart. I hope that you are very selective in choosing a husband and always remember that you deserve the very best. I hope that you remember to celebrate not just the big moments in life but even the smaller ones. I hope you have the happiest life ever and a heart full of love every step of the way.

With all my love,
Your Mommy

Jungle Java

There's an indoor play arena close by our house called Jungle Java and we took the girls there today since we've been staying home so much here lately. They had a blast and it was a lot of fun for us as well. It sufficiently wore them out, which was much needed after last night. They were simply wired last night and they didn't have any sugar so it cannot even be blamed on that. I think they had a case of cabin fever so it helped getting it out of their system today.

Joe took them down the big slide....the last slide before we left.

Elvis

It was Elvis' birthday yesterday.......Jennifer, Kyle, myself and several others had a virtual happy hour on Facebook talking about all of the past Ted Roddy Elvis reviews we've attended over the years.....probably over 10 years of various shows with various friends. It's awesome. We're going to all plan to get together for the next one in August.

Funny Conversations

Things the girls have said lately that have made me laugh....

Sarah: (talking about her lunch) Mommy, it's hot

Kristen: No Sarah, its' not hot it's warm

Sarah: No, it's not hot or warm. It's spicy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mommy: Sarah, lets leave your pillow upstairs
Sarah: No, I want to take it
Kristen: Sarah, you don't listen to mommy very well
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mommy: Put that down

Sarah: .....ignoring me

Mommy: Put that down now, Sarah

Kristen: Put it down, Sarah. (pointing her finger) No, no ma'am

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sarah: Mommy, I want to go potty
Kristen: I want to potty too
(then they both potty)
Sarah: Look I went pee pee
Kristen: Mommy, I went poo poo and it's a BIG one
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Kristen: Look, I'm coloring in the lines

Sarah: Me coloring in the lines too

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daddy: We need to stop playing and go take a bath
Kristen: (holding up her hand to show her 5 fingers) Five more minutes Daddy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(when taking a bath)

Sarah: Mommy, I don't want any soap tonight. I think I'll just play

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They are seriously cracking me up with the conversations they have with each other and with us. In the mornings they have started carrying on these detailed conversations with each other. I'm usually in the other room getting dressed so I can't hear everything they are talking about but it's pretty thorough for 2 year olds. It's got to be so incredibly fun to have a twin sister.
Christmas Pictures
I realized that I never posted some pictures of when we got the girls Christmas pictures made. They sure had fun doing these and they absolutely loved being in front of the camera.
