The Birthday Party

The girls had a fabulous birthday party and they looked so beautiful in their yellow dresses. The dresses were a shower gift last summer from my friend Diane and they were perfect for the occasion.

Their guests....
Nana
Grandma Katie
Grandpa Joe
Aunt Susan
Aunt Angela, Matt & Hannah
Uncle Jimmy
Uncle Casey, Aunt Trish & Cousin Brooke
David, Heather & Kadey
Dan, Alissa & Ainsley
Bryan, Calandra, Aidan & Emberlea
Kevin, Dawn, Megan & Karson

The day was a lot of fun and everything turned out great. We enjoyed spending the day with our friends and family and it just a very special day. The girls received so many generous gifts and they've had fun playing with everything this week. They received tons of toys, dolls and books.

Thanks to everyone for making this day extra special for our girls.

Here's pictures for those who weren't able to make it.

1 Year Old

I cannot believe my daughters are one! The year has flown right by. I guess that's what happens when it's the best year of your life. Having these girls has been such a blessing. I'm still trying to understand how God trusted me enough to give me two babies at the same time when I didn't know much about children. I guess he knew we would figure it out. I have enjoyed being a mom more than I ever imagined and if Joe would let me I would do it again as long as I was guaranteed to have another set of twin girls.

This first year was wonderful. It was hard and at times I'm not sure how we survived but wonderful none the less. Luckily, the hard parts were few and far between and this year has been filled with incredible moments. Seeing them smile for the first time, roll over, eat solid foods, stand up, crawl and now walk have been so much fun to witness. Not to mention watching them interact with each other, laugh in the bathtub, snuggling up together in the crib and discovering new things. Watching them grow and learn new things has been amazing and I feel so honored to be their mother. I consider it a privilege and I love them with all of my heart.

I'm looking forward to what the next year brings and all of the fun times ahead.

On Friday the girls went to their 12 month well check. The office is decorated in a western theme and in each room they have pictures of patients with cowboy hats on. Kristen & Sarah got their cowgirl hat on Friday and their picture will soon be making its way on the wall in Dr. T's office.

First Steps

I type this as the girls are still asleep but I wanted to share the news that Kristen has taken her first steps. I'm actually a little late posting this because she did this a couple of weeks ago (July 26). She only takes a couple of steps at a time so her primary mode of transportation is still crawling. She practices walking a few times a day and we know it won't be long before she has it down.

Something very exciting did happen yesterday concerning her new found skill. When I got home the girls were up in their play room with Joe and I walked in and sat down close by. Kristen was sitting in her new chair and I was probably about 4 feet away from her. She stood up from her chair and walked over to me with her arms out as if she wanted to hug me. It had to be about 6 or 7 steps to get to me and it was awesome. It was the best way to be greeted and I was so proud of her. Talk about a great feeling.......

Just Some Pics

I thought I'd share some pictures of the girls from the last couple of weeks....I cannot believe they are about to have a birthday! They have become so much fun and watching them interact with each other has been an amazing experience.

Here's Kristen putting her finger in Sarah's mouth

Isn't she a cutie?

Play Room Makeover

We have started to work on the girls play room. With two babies crawling and learning to walk we wanted to give them some space of their own.

Here are the before pictures

Here are the after pictures (before we added all of their toys)

The gate is attached to the wall. It's a fantastic gate because it's a combination of hard plastic posts and mesh sides. It's very durable and baby friendly since it's not the usual metal gate. The flooring is nice because it's an added cushion for the girls, not permanent, it protects your carpet and it's bright and festive. We're very happy with the way it turned out. The walls are very plain so I'm thinking of painting a tropical scene on the wall. I have some large palm tree stencils so I may just try it. I can always paint over it later.

After we finished the floors I decided with all that extra room I needed to give them an early birthday present because it fit with the play room perfectly. I got these cute baby chairs that I had seen on another blog and I really wanted them. They are still getting used to them but so far they love them.
