Smores & Rubber Duck Race at the JW

After we left  Gruene we headed to the JW Marriott Hill Country in San Antonio for the weekend. I'm going to break up our posts of the weekend since I've got so many pictures. On Friday we enjoyed the pool, the kiddie area and one of the water slides. The girls had a blast swimming and especially the small water slide. After we completely wore ourselves out we headed over to the fire pit for nightly smores and boy were they delicious.

After smores we went back to the main pool for Float N' Flick. We opted not to float but rather lay by the pool and watch the movie. Friday night they were showing Cars and they put it on a giant outdoor screen. Kristen never napped on the way to San Antonio so she was out before the movie even started. Sarah lasted about half way through before we called it a night.

After breakfast the next morning they wanted to participate in the Rubber Duck race they host every Saturday morning. Every child gets to decorate their own duck and then enter it into a race in the lazy river. Kristen and Sarah thought this was the funniest thing ever.

We also captured some sweet pictures....

Gruene

We stopped in Gruene on the way to San Antonio to have lunch with Joe's Dad and Shirley. Scott and his wife and her son were also there and we hadn't seen Scott in a very long time. We had lunch at the Gristmill and it was wonderful. We then walked down to the Guadalupe River and each time we take the girls there they just go right in the water with their regular clothes on. They love the river! We had extra clothes in the car but our car was packed full since we had our wagon with us. We decided we would let them ride to San Antonio in their underwear, which worked out just as well. By the time we got there they were dry and we were able to start our great weekend at the JW Marriott.

Joe and his Dad

Joe says they were born River Rats

I am usually the one begging for a picture but this time they asked me to take this picture of them. They wanted to stand on this tree stump behind the winery as we left. Melt my heart!

Happy Father's Day, Joe

We spent Father's Day going to church and then lunch at Gloria's in The Domain, which is where Joe really wanted to go. Afterwards we came home and the we took a long nap. The girls must have been tired because I didn't even tell them they needed to take a nap. All of a sudden it got really quiet and I found them in their beds. The best part is they slept 2 1/2 hours and Joe and I were able to take a nap. Now that's a wonderful present for both mom and dad!

Here is Daddy with his girls. Joe has them both wrapped around his finger and he adores them. We are seriously lucky to have him....we thank God every day for Daddy!

He got some precious homemade cards from the girls and picture puzzle and frame they made at school. He also got some brand new Reef sandals that he had been wanting.

Catch Up

Last Saturday the girls went to Emily's 4th birthday party. There was a face painter there and Sarah waited patiently in line for her turn. She waited so long she had the face painters speech down......at the very end the face painter would ask each child if they wanted some  "sparkle" sprinkled on the design. Sarah picked out her rainbow with a heart but the lady put the "sparkle" on automatically right after the finished the rainbow even though she wasn't finished. Sarah didn't even notice she did that and was assuming she would be asked for sparkle at the end. When she wasn't ask she just looked at her and said, "I'd like my sparkle, please" and it was the cutest thing. I think she wanted the sparkle more than she wanted the face paint so she was pleasantly surprised when she was told she already had it.

Kristen wasn't as into the face painting and she opted for an owl on her arm. It was still very cute.

Last Sunday my mom came over for dinner and the girls wanted to play in the sprinkler for a bit. It's becoming our Sunday afternoon fun....

The picture below is one that I took when we got to school earlier this week. They both wanted to wear their sunglasses to school and Sarah had her own sense of style. She kept sticking out her tongue every time she would pull on her ponytail and check out those socks she pulled up! Silly girls.

First Day of Ballet Class

The girls go to a wonderful preschool and it has a full size dance studio, which hosts dance classes year round. They wanted to sign up for summer and the classes are during the day, which is so helpful because I'd like to limit their after school class to just gymnastics. This morning they got dressed in their leotards, tights, skirts and took their ballet shoes to school. They looked so precious. Kristen did not want me taking these pictures so she refused to really smile for me.

They told me that they had a great time in the class. Sarah said they practiced walking on their tippy toes a lot. Apparently they also need tap shoes. I didn't know that so it looks like we'll be shopping for tap shoes this weekend to make their ensemble complete.

On the way home Kristen asked me if she could put on her white dress when we got home. I asked what white dress she was referring to because I couldn't think of it. She said....."You know, my wedding dress" and she went on to say "you know, the one I wore when I married Sarah." It's the flower girl dress she wore for a wedding last summer. It has nothing to do with ballet but it sure made me smile today.

Gymnastics "Show" Day

At Gymnastics on Thursday they let the parents come in for the last 10 minutes or so to take pictures and to let the kids show us what they were working on that day. Sarah & Kristen still love going and look forward to it each week....especially now that Emma is in their class!

Right after I snapped this picture (below) they leg locked each other and just laughed and laughed.
